Acosta Dance Centre Renovates Its Studios with Harlequin Dance Floors

27th May 2025

The Acosta Dance Centre has upgraded its studios in South East London with Harlequin floors, ensuring dancer safety and optimal performance.

The Acosta Dance Centre, also home to the Acosta Dance Foundation, opened its doors in September 2023. The state-of-the-art dance facility is located in a Grade II-listed building in Royal Arsenal, Woolwich.

The Centre features professional dance studios, now all fitted with Harlequin flooring, and hosts both commercial and charitable programmes, including community engagement and educational initiatives.

Its mission is to broaden access to dance and foster a culture where dance is embraced by everyone, with the aspiration to “create a dancer in every home.”

Carlos Acosta, founder of the Acosta Dance Centre and Foundation, works closely with Managing Director, Javier Torres, to shape the organisation’s vision. Javier Torres said: “We are committed to ensuring that dance is for everyone, regardless of age, gender or ability. Our goal is to bring dance to the masses.”

With a focus on excellence and safety, the Acosta Dance Centre partnered with Harlequin to ensure high-quality flooring that supports dancers’ health and performance. All studios are now equipped with a Harlequin Cascade performance vinyl floor.

Looking ahead, the Acosta Dance Centre and Foundation are preparing to launch several new educational and community-based programmes designed to further expand their reach and impact.

“The future is bright,” says Javier Torres. “We’re working hard on initiatives for the coming year, and none of this would be possible without Harlequin’s support. Not just for their incredible products, but for their belief in our mission and their genuine care for dancers’ well-being.”

Harlequin has been a trusted partner of the Acosta Dance Foundation for several years, supplying performance flooring for both the Acosta Dance Centre in London and Acosta Danza in Cuba.
